Wedding Locations
The most popular choice for a wedding ceremony is the beach, and with some of the most stunning beaches in the world, you won’t be disappointed! Beach weddings often include both the ceremony and the wedding reception.
Another option is to have a wedding at sea. With the options of a traditional Maldivian dhoni or a designer yacht.
You can also opt to have your ceremony on an isolated sandbank located close to the resort. You and the wedding party can travel by sea to the sandbank, and escape from the rest of the world whilst you exchange your vows.
If you’d prefer something different, you could have an underwater wedding, or choose to have your ceremony by the pool, on a terrace or at one of the luxurious restaurants within the resort.
What's Included
The wedding packages for many of the resorts include:
- Wedding flowers
- Traditional drummers (Bodu Beru)
- Wedding cake
- Bridal make up

- Romantic dinner for the bride and groom
We will take care of all the finer details of your wedding from start to finish.
In addition, we can organise international flights, accommodation and resort transfers for the bride and groom, all of the wedding party and the guests.
The best part of a Maldives wedding is that the honeymoon starts straight away!
The Ceremony
The ceremony itself will be much like any other wedding, with the exchanging of vows and rings but there are some additional points to consider.
As this is a destination wedding it’s nice to incorporate some of the local culture into your special day.
For a Maldives wedding, a traditional ceremony will include Bodu Beru (traditional drums). Typically this will be a procession of 10 or more local drummers in traditional clothing, leading the bride and groom down the aisle.
You can also choose to include a local judge for a ceremony in the local language (Divehi) and take it one step further by dressing in traditional Maldivian clothing. Many of the resorts include aspects of the traditional culture within their packages and you can choose to incorporate as much or as little as you like.
This aspect is entirely optional and you can stick to a traditional Western wedding if that is what you would prefer.
It is important to remember that a wedding in the Maldives between two foreign nationals is not legally binding. A legal wedding at home beforehand is required, followed by a stunning ceremony in the Maldives!

FAQs
Can you legally get married in the Maldives?
A wedding between two foreign nationals in the Maldives is not legally binding. For that picture-perfect wedding ceremony in a tropical setting, you will need to have a legal wedding in the form of a civil ceremony before travelling to the Maldives.
How many people can attend the wedding?
The wedding ceremony can be as intimate as you wish, starting from just the bride and groom all the way up to guests to fill the entire resort (dependent on resort and availability).
When is the best time of year to get married in the Maldives?
The temperature in the Maldives is around 30°C for most of the year. The dry season is between December and March with the rainy season running from June to November. Expect some drizzle during the rainy season, but typically this passes quite quickly and as the rain is warm, you can still enjoy being outside.
The benefits of having your wedding from April to November are that room rates are lower and the resort will be a bit quieter.
